PLACES TO VISIT

  • St Conans Kirk  Beautiful church on the banks of Loch Awe
  • The Hollow Mountain   Situated amongst some of Scotland's most beautiful scenery, lying deep within Ben Cruachan is one of the country's most amazing engineering achievements. A power station buried one kilometre below the ground.  At its centre lies a massive cavern, high enough to house the Tower of London! Here enormous turbines convert the power of water into electricity, available to you in your home at the flick of a switch.
  • Inverawe country park. Inverawe has something for everyone, be it fishing, finding out how salmon is smoked, exploring the many trails and tracks, feeding the fish, trying our new play area, browsing through the shop, or enjoying our delicious food in the Smokery Café.
Set at the foot of Ben Cruachan, surrounded by beech and oak woods with spectacular views over the River Awe into Glen Lonan, it is the perfect location to unwind in West Scotland.
  • Kilchurn Castle   At the north eastern corner of Loch Awe lies Kilchurn Castle, built in the 15th century by Sir Colin Campbell and is probably the most photographed castle in Scotland. The castle is open from April through to September each year and is well worth a visit. Access is via a short boat trip from the pier in Loch Awe village or by foot from the side of the A85 near the railway viaduct
  • Oban. Oban is the main town in the area and the main hub for all the ferries to the islands. It is packed full of interesting shops and places to eat. Click HERE to see Visit Scotlands page on things to see around OBAN
  • Calmac Ferries. Calmac ferries serve all of the islands and are your first port of call if you want to explore further afield. Click HERE to visit their website to check out the ferry timetables.

""Gorgeous magical place to stay, especially as it snowed. The hot tub  was the highlight, and the dog loved playing on the enclosed garden and the surrounding woods. Would love to stay again. Super warm and cosy. I was devastated to come home. Thank you!" - Sam, December 2017
